Kristin Lazzaro Wiedemann was raised in Pittsburgh PA and graduated from Baldwin High School. She received her Bachelors in Secondary Education in English and Spanish and a Masters in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh where she taught on a fellowship. She also attended the University of Veracruz in Jalapa Mexico in graduate and undergraduate semesters. She has taught in public Catholic and charter schools in PA and FL. She also worked for 3 years training doctors and dentists in Puerto Rico and Miami to comply with workplace biohazardous federal regulations. She is currently consumed with three teenage daughters and walks Marco Beach daily. She has walked 56,000 miles on that beautiful 3 mile stretch of sand and has befriended tens of thousands of tourists snowbirds and residents. It is for all of those people that the Red Feather Project has come to be. It is a community project inspired by Oprah Winfreys Lovetown USA. It will stimulate business raise tourism assist the elderly and help the hispanics by bringing the indigenous Calusa spirit of gifting back to the Island. The Native Americans that lived on Marco for a thousand years practiced potlatch. It is the custom of gifting a shell feather or corn when you meet another human to create good karma. The red feather is a symbol of safety and good luck. Come for the weather leave with a feather. One lady can try and save a community like so many others that is quagmired in conflict and negativity.
